General Information

- What is Scouting and who is it for?
- Scouting is a global movement for young people to learn skills, build confidence, and enjoy adventure. Open to all.
- What age groups do you cater for?
- Beavers (6–8), Cubs (8–10½), Scouts (10½–14), and Explorers (14–18).
- Where and when do meetings take place?
- Weekly meetings at Mendlesham Community Centre and Mendlesham Green field, plus camps and events.
Joining and Membership

- How can my child join?
- Complete our joining form or contact the Group Leader. We’ll be in touch when a space is available.
- Is there a waiting list?
- Yes, some sections may have waiting lists. We’ll keep you updated once registered.
- Can my child try a session before committing?
- Yes! We offer trial sessions to help your child settle in.
Costs and Uniform

- How much does it cost to join?
- Subs around £30 per term. Camps and trips may cost extra.
- What uniform is required and where can I buy it?
- Each section has its own uniform. Available from the Scout Shop or local suppliers.
Activities and Camps

- What kind of activities do you offer?
- Outdoor adventures, crafts, coding, community service, and more.
- Do you run overnight camps?
- Yes! Camps are a highlight of Scouting life.
- Is my child safe on camp?
- All leaders are DBS-checked and trained in safeguarding and first aid.
Volunteering and Support

- Can parents get involved?
- Absolutely! We welcome helpers, committee members, and new leaders.
- Do leaders receive training?
- Yes. All volunteers complete training in youth leadership and safety.
- How can I support fundraising efforts?
- Join our events, donate via JustGiving, or use EasyFundraising when shopping online.
